Welcome to PHY 121 Blog Help. Here's how it works. For each homework question and lab report we will make a post, this will probably contain a few tips on what the problems are about and how to solve them. If you are stuck on something then instead of emailing us directly you should post a comment in reply to the relevant post. We will try to guide you through tough points and help you understand the problems and the concepts behind them.

what is part b asking us to figure out? what equation should we be using since specific tension isn't given?
hi, i tried the formula abs(f1-f2) for beat frequency but i can't get the answer for part a.
do the harmonics have something to do with how you get the answer?
what equation do we use for part a?
I didn't use any equation I just put 2 for second harmonic since it says "The tuner can determine this by listening to the beats between the third harmonic of the A and the second harmonic of the E". I doubt that's the right way to do it but it accepted it. does anyone know how to do part B?
For part b you have to use original frequency for tone E not the higher harmonics
