See Ch 3 Sheet 6 and extend the formulae from 2 to 3 vectors. See Ch 4 Sheet 5 for the component treatment of Newton's Law II.

my picture has 3 components but 4 forces written down. what does the fourth force mean?

Yes there are 3 vectors, but one of the them isn't parallel to either the x or y axis, so the 2 forces listed are representing the x and y components of that vector.
